Our theme this Fall begins with Upon This Rock.
From Psalm 18: 1-2 (NRSV)
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
From Matthew 16:18 (The Message)
And now I'm going to tell you who you are, you really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.

- Spend some time reflecting about the bedrock of your faith. Can you put it into words? Think about how you would communicate your thoughts to your family and/or friends. Does the faith statement that you may have written for Confirmation still hold true for you now? Try writing an updated faith statement, or click here to view the Statement of Faith of the United Church of Christ.
- Watch this video of one man's experience of hitting "rock bottom". How do you deal with hard times? How can our faith community help us support one another when we are going through hard times? How do redemption and forgiveness fit with his story?
- Watch this video to learn about spiritual practices. How do you best connect with God? What are things you enjoy doing? And how do you/could you find God in the midst of them?
- Read the United Church of Christ's online daily devotional here.
- Try for 5 minutes of uninterrupted silence every day. Set the timer on your phone, close your eyes, and clear your mind.
- Meditate on the words Upon This Rock.... What do you see as the foundation of your life?
